Music Magazine Ideas..

I'm gunner aim for a teenage based audience, as I believe that I'll have an insight, been a teenager myself, i'll be able to relate and emphasize towards the magazine.
My range of music will be very wide. I don't want to just feature one genre of music, as that may not be to everyone's taste. Hopefully, I'll be able to satisfy more people, even though it'll be more work for me.My magazine will also feature very new bands, unsigned acts, to introduce them to my audience, and hopefully give them a boost into the music business. I'm going to include exclusive interviews and tips for people who want to take the first steps into the music business,
I'll include some advertisement for instrument lessons, to help this proceed. There isn't a magazine as such that i'm gunner base it on, 'cos i'd like it to be a bit different to everyone elses.

Lesson 4.

In this lesson we learnt about audience theories. We established..
. Who the audience is.
. Who the spectator is.
. Who controls the audience.
. Who has the power?
. Is the message a drug?

We then looked at the "hypodermic theory". This is the theory that the media injects the audience, it controls the message that is percieved and influences the audience's actions. We discussed how this can be both posative (In the aspect of learning etc.) And negative (When drugs, alcohol, general negativites are splashed accross the media).

We also looked at Gratifications theory. This is when the meaning isn't fixed or determined, and it can be negotiated or encoded/decoded.

We gave our opinions throughout the lesson, and people suggested how one might use the media for their own pleasure.

Lastly, We looked at ways to define your audience, based on these theories, looking at..
. Social grades.
. Subjectivities.
. Needs and values.
. Physchographics.

We looked at the "Needs triangle" and decided what priorities we had in life.
Our homework was to create a questionaire defining our audience.

Lesson 3.

We began by recapping Stereotyping and reprisentation.
Then we moved on to..
. The Implicit Personality theory, and how we use our human instincts to immediately judge people.
. Stereotyping - dominant media and image.
. Mediation - the process of reprisentation. (selection organization and focussing, we looked at the advert and analysed what was selected, organized and focussed on, discovering the main theme of the advert was tradition.)
. Values and Ideology.
. Reflective reprisentation - when we reprisent something, we try to take it's true theory and create a replica of this in the mind of our audience.
. Intentional reprisentation - Basically the opposite of reflective reprisentation,.
. Constructionist Reprisentation - Can never be the truth, or a version of the truth that someone wants you to hear, because it's ignoring your ability as an individual to make up your mind as an individual.

First real lesson.

Learnt about reprisentation in the media, using the idea of Angelina Jolie, and how her image has changed from her being this sexy icon, to a pregnant woman, and how different ideas are percieved.
Then we looked at gender stereotyping, and how women are known to "supposed" to look white, pretty, slim, etc. And how these women are pointed out to be more successful. And these woman are splashed over the media, making people feel this is the right way to look.

We also learnt about..
. Stereotying of age.
. Stereotyping of Masculinity.
. How first impressions can effect how we think about someone.
. How we associate certain things with other things.
. The principle of stereotyping.
We then were asked to form a case study, I chose "IndieKids".
